With a new MTR stop scheduled to open next year, and new eateries and studios dotting its rapidly changing landscape, Aberdeen is elbowing its way to the top of the cool ‘hoods list in Hong Kong. It’s a natural hub for interior design projects, and Insight School recently joined the buzz in true Insight fashion: through a real-life student project.
Property developer, ACTS Group recently gave our Certificate students the rare opportunity to refurbish and design a one-bedroom show flat for a new development in Aberdeen. Students were given a tight timeline — three weeks — to work from looking at the layout, to creating detailed concepts, lighting plans, furniture and for the bespoke flat. They presented their ideas and concepts to the ACTS client, who was given the difficult task of choosing one project to move forward with. The winning project (designed by student, Mandy Simmons) will be implemented and completed before the end of the summer.
As we’ve mentioned before, we take practical experience seriously at Insight, and foster a rapid and rigorous learning environment coupled with an unprecedented level of exposure for students. The ACTS project is no exception, and we look forward to seeing Mandy’s work come to life. Keep checking back to see what the newly labelled “INSIGHT Project” flat will look like.
