Remember that perception of space is based on body size (Ergonomics). Different size spaces suit different size people: one person’s claustrophobic box is another’s cosy nest.
Ergonomics (from the Greek word ergon meaning work, and nomoi meaning natural laws), is the science of refining the design of products to optimize them for human use.
Rather than working exclusively in plan and asking the question ‘is the access adequate?’ take steps to visualize the situation for yourself and use a tape measure to confirm the dimensions required
An exercise example / Spot the planning mistakes
A handout preview / Space planning templates
